Considering of flushing the DPF filter? Wet flushing or cleaning of DPF filters brings with a number of carcinogenic chemicals and waste. For better imagination check the video here.
What can happen if I remove the DPF filter
First of all, just to remind yourself the DPF filter is also known as Diesel Particulate Filter, or FAP filter (for French vehicles). Its main function is capture the soot in the filter compartment. Sieve is usually a mixture of ceramics and precious metals. The exhaust gases are guided through it, where subtle tubules ensure the collection of soot.
The removal of the filter takes place, that the diesel particle filter is demounted. Then, it is necessary to cut it for direct access to the ceramic sieve full of carcinogens. Mechanic by using of hammer and chisel threshing out the inside, so called core. This core is extremely stiff and it takes a lot of work to clean it completely.
Then, the cleaned filter is welded and fitted back. Then comes adjustment control unit of the vehicle. Because the diesel particulate filter has many sensors connected to it, these sensors needs to be disconnected / disabled. For this disconnection, it is necessary to alert the control unit of the vehicle so it wont evaluates the incorrect values. Right here occurs one of the first problems, as there are mechanics who know well what to do and then, there are those who learn on your vehicle without your knowledge.
Unless you reach for such a solution with a particulate filter, be sure to choose a company that has experience with it and also their work has good reviews. In the right place, they can backup control unit so you know, if the vehicle in the event of bad function could be reinstated this way. Such interference with the control unit is quite unnatural. Only on the principle, the new vehicles have been tested thousands of miles before being placed on the market, including software and everything in them was fairly fine-tuned so that worked reliably. However, after such a crackdown in the vehicle is very often the case that the vehicle does not behave correctly and the controller throws different error messages. Then comes another problem. Indeed, it could broke down so seriously, that they had to buy a new controller, all the sensors, and also a new DPF filter. Often, however, the result was as they failed to give completely to its original state. You need to re-calculate how well the process costs, plus what you have paid for the removal of DPF filter and other problems that makes it even more expensive.
At prices of DPF filters nowadays, is it worth to considering the purchase of a new particle filter. For example widely distributed is DPF filter for Ford Focus / C-Max 1.6 TDCi. Prices begins at a reasonable 370 EUR. For this price, you can already have a new DPF filter that will last for thousands of miles more reliably.
In conclusion only so much to add, the removal of diesel particulate filter is not the best solution. These filters are mounted in the vehicle mainly to protect our health, particularly in dense urban traffic. When people remove them, just cause themselves exacerbating own environment. It should also be taken into account where the waste ends up from so. “gutted” DPF filters. Another big disadvantage basically is, the customer who removes the DPF filter will pay for that someone had adjusted the vehicle and is no more with following the terms of such law of driving vehicles. If the vehicle has been fitted with a DPF as standard, so the filter must be in the vehicle. Unless there is no DPF filter, such a vehicle has nothing to do on the road. Just go on a trip to Austria or Germany and with such vehicle you will be detained, papers will be confiscated and the BONUS is given fine. The result is a heavy fine and a confiscated vehicle. Alternatively, you shut down and call for a towing services. Consider this before you decide to remove a DPF filter.

Looking for information about DPF filters in practice?
Are you looking for information about DPF replacement and how DPF filters works in practice? Visit the blog which is also dedicated to this. Blog about how DPF works you can find here. If you are interested in more specific solution in your case or eventually you are looking for information exactly for your brand and model of the vehicle, so try to look directly at forums on the various brands of the vehicles. You will find really a lot of information on this topic and feel free to ask on the forums.
Low emission zone
Oncomming low emission zones can be expected soon in Slovakia. Following the example of Western Europe and especially Germany, more stringent environmental standards can be expected in the near future in our cities. The result will be the implementation of so called low emission zones (LEZ). Their aim is to reduce the number of older cars in the center of our cities. Basically, in the first place the city (village) will make a study, on the basis of which will indicates single areas of the city with low emsission zone symbol. Vehicle owners will have so called emission plate on the windscreen. Emission zone, where the vehicle can enter, will be marked on this plate. When the plate does not meet the emission limits or have worse emission plate, the vehicle will not be able to enter this area of the city (village).
Otherwise there will be a fine as a sanction. Such system is established in Germany and other western countries. Older diesel vehicles are worse at this point. These vehicles are often unfiltered and have high black carbon emissions or are fitted with diesel particulate filter which produces much more small particles.
This system already works in Germany. In the Czech Republic, as for Prague the complete study has been already made for instance. Also other cities in the Czech Republic are working on such studies. Slovakia also leads a big discussion on this topic. Naturally, first should begin the realization in larger cities. Creating emission zones can also be expected in a spa town, in extraordinary protected landscape areas and also everywhere where there is a significant increase limit pollutants in the air.
Vehicle emissions control and fees in the UK
If you have purchased a vehicle registered in England, you have to pay the insurance and motor vehicle tax, based on emissions produced by the vehicle. The calculation of the fees are not based on data listed in the vehicle registration certificate (log book). As an constitutive indication for officials is final statement from the technical inspection. Officials after that, based on real-time status of emissions production, calculate the amount of fees that you have to pay as the vehicle owner. You could say, the worse condition your vehicle is and the more you neglect the maintenance of your vehicle, the higher amount you will pay. From this point of view, the owners of vehicles in England are motivated to keep their vehicles in the best condition.
